The 2008 Northern Division Workshopwas held on January 05, 2008 at the newly remolded Courtyard by Marriott in Fairfield. There were approximately 130 members from 53 clubs in Northern California in attendance. Many of the club members from the Coast and Sierras were unable to attend because of the unusual storm that hit early in the morning of January 5th. The storm brought massive rains, falling trees due to unusual high winds bringing swollen creeks and roadways.
The updated and revised 2008 Leadership Guide was handed out to all members in attendence.

"Your Club - Nuts and Bolts 101 - Club Framework" began the workshop
NFRW, CFRW and Northern Division the connection to the club; Keeping track of membership and reporting to Northern division and it's purpose; Keeping Track of Club Business and how long you keep club minutes; Keeping track of monies, the importance of accurate record keeping and storage; Keeping business on track and Keeping us on track with By-laws, keeping them up to date to run a well organized meeting.

Discussions regarding the positions of the chair committees; Chaplain, Americanism, Legislation, Program, Membership Promotion and Club Newsletter.
A lively discussion followed with many excellent questions and pertinent answers.
Our Lunch speaker, Lynn Leach, elected in 1996 to the State Assembly and became the first woman ever to represent the combined Alameda/Contra Costa Counties 15th Assembly District. She was relected in 1998 and 200 by a commanding margin and term limited in 2002.

Topics such as the Power of the Pen, Achievement Awards, Community Involvement, Scholarships, Public Relations and Voter Registration.
One of our attendees wrote: "I learned of the many tasks that each board member and member agrees to do as a representative of (our club). We spoke to former committee members and talked about new ideas and ideas to increase our membership particularly with younger women. We were constantly reminded that we are the Education Arm of the Republican Party. As a Vice President, I am interested in moving up in the organization, and I left with a new vision and enhanced committment."
